A combined pressure reducing & desuperheating valve to control pressure & temperature. The desuperheater (turbine byapss valve) is used for the safe handling of very high presure drops and the control of high velocities associated with steam power generation. A major use is with back-pressure turbines supplying exhaust steam to process. Should the turbine be shut down for any reason, the steam rejected is bypassed through the valves which serve to reduce it to the required process conditions
